The short answer: yes, your AI can work across several Webflow workspaces at once. The Webflow MCP server ties each sign-in to a single workspace, so the answer is to give every workspace its own connection and route them all through one hub on your computer. We built a free, open-source desktop app that does exactly that. It is called Volante.
Why the Webflow MCP only sees one workspace
When you connect an AI app such as Claude or Cursor to Webflow's MCP server, you sign in and choose which workspace to allow. From then on that connection works inside the workspace you picked. To reach another one, you sign out and sign in again.
For one site, that is fine. For a studio, it is not. We look after sites for clients in real estate, jewellery, interiors and hospitality, and each client lives in their own Webflow workspace. Switching sign-ins mid-task is slow, and it makes it far too easy to ask your AI to change the wrong client's site.
What we wanted instead
- Every client workspace connected at the same time.
- Our AI always knowing which workspace it is working in.
- Different permissions per client, so a live site can be read-only while a site in build is open for changes.
- One set-up that works in every AI app we use, not a separate configuration in each one.
- A record of every change the AI made, and where.
How Volante works
Volante runs quietly on your computer and gives all your AI apps a single private address to connect to. Behind that address it keeps a separate, signed-in connection to each of your Webflow workspaces, and to any other MCP server you use, such as GitHub or a browser.
- One connection per workspace. Each Webflow workspace gets its own sign-in, so you can add as many as you need.
- Tools that say where they act. Every workspace's tools carry its name, for example
webflow_acme__list_sites, so your AI cannot mix two clients up. - Permissions per workspace. Choose Allow everything, Look only, No deleting, or pick individual tools.
- Every request logged. The activity log shows each request your AI made, which workspace it went to, and what came back.
How to connect multiple Webflow workspaces
- Download Volante from its GitHub page and install it. It is free.
- Click the plus next to Servers and choose Webflow.
- Type the workspace's name, for example the client's name, and click Add and sign in.
- Your browser opens Webflow. Pick that workspace and approve.
- Repeat with Add another workspace for each of the others.
- Open Connect apps and click Connect on the AI apps you use, then restart them.
That is it. Ask your AI to "list the CMS collections in the Acme workspace" and it knows exactly where to look.
Which AI apps it works with
Volante connects in one click to Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf, Gemini CLI and Codex. Any other app that supports remote MCP servers can connect to it by hand.
Is it safe?
- Volante only accepts connections from your own computer, and every app needs a private key to use it.
- Webflow sign-ins and any API keys are encrypted by your operating system.
- Nothing is sent anywhere except to the services you add.
- The code is open source, so anyone can check what it does.
Frequently asked questions
Can the Webflow MCP connect to more than one workspace at once?
Not on its own. Each sign-in is tied to one workspace. With Volante, each workspace gets its own connection, and your AI apps can use all of them at the same time.
Is Volante free?
Yes. It is free and open source under the MIT licence.
Does it work on Mac?
Yes. Volante is available for Windows and macOS, on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. Adding a workspace takes one name and one sign-in, and connecting an AI app is a single click.
Can I stop my AI from changing a client's live site?
Yes. Set that workspace to Look only and your AI can read it but not change anything. Whatever you choose, the activity log records every request, so you can always see what was done and where.
